Approach to Care

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-supported therapy that helps the brain heal from distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. At Brighten Every Life Counseling Services, EMDR is offered within a culturally affirming, trauma-informed space where moms and women are supported with care, safety, and respect for their lived experiences.

Somatic Experiencing is an evidence-based, nervous-system-focused therapy that supports healing from trauma, anxiety, and overwhelm by gently working with bodily sensations. Clients choose BEL for Somatic Experiencing because we prioritize emotional and physical safety, relational attunement, and culturally responsive care that honors the lived experiences of women and moms.

Keesha Clark, LCSW is an intermediate-level Somatic Experiencing® practitioner, offering body-based trauma care and providing supervision to pre-licensed therapists, with a strong focus on nervous system safety, pacing, and attunement.
Our IFS-informed approach helps clients understand and compassionately work with different parts of themselves, creating more inner clarity, balance, and self-leadership. This work is supported by Keesha Clark’s ongoing consultation and continued learning in parts work to ensure care is thoughtful, ethical, and attuned to each client’s needs.
