A little about
Our Story
Brighten Every Life Counseling Services was inspired by the majesty of our matriarchs - the beautifully-inspiring strength, courage and power that our ancestors have poured into us - their legacy.
The Therapist
My name is Keesha Clark — I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a certified Perinatal Mental Health professional.
I bring over a decade of experience in Social Work, having served women, children, and families navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges — including intimate partner violence, sexual trauma, child abuse and neglect, and the foster care system.
For the past six years, my focus has been on mental health — holding space for deep healing and lasting transformation. I’ve received advanced training and certifications in Perinatal Mental Health, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Narcissistic Abuse Recovery, and Financial Social Work.
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally affirming, and grounded in both clinical expertise and lived experience. At the heart of everything I do is a passion to see Black women and mothers thrive — not just survive.
I believe in healing, in legacy, and in the power of therapy to help us reclaim our stories and our joy.
The Passion
My passion for supporting Black women and mothers didn’t start in a textbook — it was born out of personal experience. Entering motherhood was traumatic and deeply lonely for me. I gave birth via an unplanned C-section — during the height of the pandemic — just hours before my mother-in-love passed away.
I was isolated, grieving, recovering, and far from the comfort and wisdom of my own matriarchs. I struggled to make sense of the trauma I experienced during childbirth, and I was overwhelmed trying to adjust to my new identity as a mother.
I needed support. I needed care. I needed a village. That experience lit a fire in me — to become the support I needed during that time.
Today, I hold space for other Black women and birthing parents navigating trauma, transition, and transformation in private practice setting. Because we deserve healing. We deserve support. And we deserve to be held — with compassion, understanding, and cultural wisdom.
The Inspiration
My grandmother, Barbara Emily Lindo, R.N. , (pictured here) was one such woman whose grace, poise, tenacity and power has influenced her children to achieve greatness despite any odds formed against them. Sadly, just before earning licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, my dear grandmother passed away after leading a long, healthy, vibrant life. A truly defining moment in my career that I owe to this lady and the matriarchs that followed her lead.
Barbara was a nurse, a caretaker, a mother, a teacher, a wise woman who nurtured those within her reach. She cared to see people succeed. She cared to see people well. Any trials and tribulations before her stood no chance of dimming her light. She shined bright even in the darkest times. She prevailed because she took care of herself as well as she took care of others. That, she instilled in her children and in me.
I am proud to name our company using the likeness of her initials, B. E. L. Brighten Every Life Counseling Services is here to help other Black women, mothers and birthing parents overcome the odds, break the cycles and experience true wellness and continue a legacy our ancestors have only dreamed for us.
